The mission of In Their Defense is to inspire and empower individuals and churches to provide care for children in the foster care system and/or out of home care by receiving them into their homes, supporting them in transition, praying for them, encouraging them and meeting perceptible needs as they arise. Our vision is that all children in the system, nationally, would have a permanent safe and loving home and that their caretakers would be supported in their endeavor to fulfill the commission given by God in Psalm 82:3, to defend the rights of the fatherless.
"Alena is a wonderful resource for all my questions regarding our guardianship/adoption. She is very knowledgeable and has had a lot of experience in this field. I also love that Alena is always available no matter the time of day or night. I truly appreciate her heart for children and fighting for what is in a child's best interest." -Katie Shappi
Alena Strickland founded In Their Defense in response to the need that she continually saw for children to be taken care of in a way that honored the Lord, as He takes vested interest in those children without a home again and again in His Word. The church is called to take responsibility for those who are not given a voice, and yet there is a large deficit of homes for these children whom God deems most worthy. Alternately, because of her experience, she is well aware of the need for support for families who are taking in these children. In response, In Their Defense was birthed.
